Walk and Talk Mock

0.1
Intertextuality is when one media text reference another for example when  doctor who appears in the pilot episode
01.2
Narrative features are used to communicate in the extract for example propp when at the end of the clip April enters the shadow kingdom this tells us that
01.3
Young people can relate to this (personal identity) because they can see themselves in the narrative for example April is a strong female teenager lots of female teenager may relate to April because they might be strong and independent another example is when there is conflict with the parents this may affect the audience  because some teenagers have arguments with there parents and some teenagers may relate to April because she is a strong independent women.

Young people or teenagers enjoy science fiction because it provides them with diversion or escaping reality because it provides them with new information about different stuff such as aliens and futuristic weapons evidence to support this point is "Something is wrong with our daughter" another piece of evidence is when April had futuristic swords the effect on the audience is they might think that class is  interesting and they might watch more science fiction and coming to age genres.

I believe that television programmes reflect the time in which they were made a great deal, socially, culturally and historically. In 1963 when Doctor Who was made, technology wasn't very advanced and science fiction genre was quite new to audiences and representation wasn't that diverse. On the other hand,by 2016 times have changed: Advanced technology, more CGI and more diverse.

Doctor Who reflected 1963 as an alternate reality towards a modern viewer this is because they have a all white British cast (not diverse) for example Ian is a white British male, Barbara is a white British woman and Susan is a white teenager and The Doctor is a white male. This affects the audience who are part of the BAME  community they might think that the 1963 wasn't that diverse or inclusive.

However by 2016, this had all changed: Class reflects a more diverse cast such as a gay alien. Class explores all types ethnicity such as the BAME community for example Tanya is a black teenager and Ram is a brown Asian teenager of Sikh heritage. This will affect the audience in 1963 because they will escape from their real life (Escapism) this is because they won't see that much diversity on TV's.
