His Dark Materials: Industry and Audience blog tasks

 1) What famous stars are in His Dark Materials and why do you think they were selected for the show? (Clue- look at the main actors and if they are American or British and what other shows they are known for)

James McAvoy who plays Lord Asriel is well know he is a Scottish actor. He also plays in split which is a well know thriller movie. 

Dafne Keen who plays Lyra is well know for playing in Logan.

2) How does His Dark Materials meet the BBC's mission statement to 'inform, educate and entertain'? (see your notes in your book) Reminder:
Inform- give information e.g. His Dark Materials gives us information about the fantasy genre (witches and 'dust' magic)

Educate- involves science and parallel dimensions and also teaches diversity and morality. 
Entertain- relationships, action, excitement, death and villains and heroes, comic animals. 

3) What was American network HBO's role in making His Dark Materials and why is this important?

HBO role in making his dark materials was to educate and inform a young audience across the UK and America 

4) Why are streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime bad news for the BBC?

Netflix and Amazon prime are bad for BBC because BBC is trying to gain a younger audience but technology is advancing so teenagers are tend to watch Netflix and Amazon prime on the go. 

5) How does His Dark Materials help the BBC to take on the big streaming rivals like Netflix and Amazon?

It helps the BBC take on Netflix by adding a different genre to teenager shows for example most teenagers shows focus on romance and action but His Dark Materials focuses on scif.
It also helps because His Dark Material is made with HBO so it would reach an international audience.
